Obesity and malnutrition commonly exists hand in hand. Which is a big clue that calorie intake is not all that matters.
Animals physiologically and psychologically adapt back to their natural weight. Question is: is there a way to shift their "natural weight?"
When science is simplified to the point that it is no longer representative of the actual reality, it becomes more dangerous and harmful then helpful.
White bread and sugar was originally a rich man's food, and they were the ones who got afflicted by cancer, diabetes, and the like. The poor people, before they began eating these in far higher quantities than the rich, were actually healthier in some key ways. This is a far more, although much less sexy argument than Paleo for me.
Pretty crazy stuff. Apparently the idea that fiber prevents colon cancer has been disproved in many credible studies, despite being incessantly proven to be far from the truth.
